Rackspace To Launch U.K. Cloud Based On VMware and Xen

Rackspace announced that plans to launch U.K. cloud hosting by the end of 2010. The company plans to open public cloud services as well as VMWare-based private cloud. The company which is a pioneer in Cloud hosting we brand the support under the name it is using in the U.S. - "Fanatical support".

It is expected Rackspace to probably use Xen for its public cloud infrastructure. Pat Matthews, VP and GM for cloud at Rackspace told said for the Readwriteweb.com that "there's an evolving conversation happening with companies that host infrastructure and their move to cloud solutions". According to the popular blog the Rackspace executive said that there's a growing need to connect cloud infrastructure to hosted infrastructure - and that some of Rackspace's customers are becoming the first customers of the new venture.

The VMware cloud technology is designed to support hybrid hosting solutions that combine the best features of cloud computing and managed hosting. RAckspace should use VMware's vCloud to enter into the U.K. market with an enterprise-optimized cloud services which keep to the existing private cloud or virtualization deployments.

The Rackspace's existing U.S. cloud infrastructure grew by 125% in 2009.
